   Confirm that you live in District 279

   STEP 2

   Check or update your voter registration

   Check your registration now, especially if you have moved or changed your name. The advance registration deadline for the general election is Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Eligible voters may also register when voting in person before Election Day or at their polling place on Election Day by providing proof of residence.

   STEP 3

   Choose how to vote before Election Day

   Voting in person before Election Day begins Friday, September 18, 2026. You may also request an absentee ballot by mail. Depending on the date and location, Minnesota may call the in-person process absentee voting or early voting. The state’s early-voting period begins Friday, October 16, and the last day to vote before Election Day is Monday, November 2. Locations and hours vary, so confirm them through an official source before you go.

   STEP 4

   Vote on Election Day

   Polling places are open Tuesday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Use the official polling-place finder before you go. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you have the right to vote. Eligible voters may register or update their registration at the polling place by providing proof of residence.

   STEP 5

   Know what to look for on your ballot

   The Minnesota Secretary of State currently identifies the contest as “School Board Member (ISD #279) (Elect 3).” Find Max Maher in that contest and fill in the oval next to his name.

   District 279 school board members are elected at large. That means all voters in District 279 vote in the same school board contest rather than voting for a member assigned to a geographic subdistrict.

   Official sample ballots are generally posted about 45 days before an election. Use the official lookup tool below. If the 2026 sample ballot is not available yet, check again closer to Election Day.
